South Korea Agree to Deal with the North Korea Issue Peacefully

12 November 2017

Chinese President Xi Jinping told his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in on Saturday that he encouraged Seoul to resume dialogue with North Korea, state news agency Xinhua reported.

They also agreed to accelerate talks for an early implementation of a communication mechanism between their military forces, and to hold a trilateral summit with South Korea at the earliest possible date, Abe told reporters.

President Moon attends a meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council at the Furama Resort Hotel in Da Nang, Vietnam on November 10.

Xi reportedly said that China attaches much importance to its relations with South Korea and hopes the two nations will make their utmost efforts to foster a healthy and stable development of their ties.

He repeated what was said in the agreement announced last month when the two countries agreed to end a year-long standoff over the deployment of a USA anti-missile system, THAAD.

The Winter Olympics are scheduled for February 9 to 25, a measure taken by the South Korean government which plans to boost tourism riding on the wave of Winter Olympics in the country. They first met in Berlin in July before they headed to Hamburg for the Group of 20 summit in the German city.

"Also, I am glad that our two countries have agreed to normalize exchanges and cooperation in all areas", he added, according to Cheong Wa Dae pool reports.

"At the end of the meeting, President Xi said this is a meeting that marks a fresh start of relations between Japan and China". "The power of free trade has largely been what enabled South Korea to become one of the world's 10 strongest economies over the past fifty years".

In addition, the two leaders also agreed to resolve North Korea-related tensions peacefully after a summit meeting.

Saturday's meeting came about two months after the North staged its sixth and most powerful nuclear test so far on September 3.
