Detroit Lions fall short against the Carolina Panthers, 27-24

09 October 2017

The Carolina Panthers edged the Detroit Lions Sunday, 27-24, recording their second straight road win over a quality opponent.

For the second week in a row, the Panthers saw a big lead go away by allowing a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown drives. He apologized after losing an endorsement deal and getting criticized by the NFL.

Cam Newton was almost flawless Sunday and Ed Dickson had the game of his career against the Lions. Their plus-9 turnover margin has played a huge role in that, as veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford has shown a newfound maturity, throwing seven touchdown passes with only one interception.

Newton entered the game averaging 220.5 yards passing per game, and players spoke this week about containing his rushing ability.

Detroit (3-2) struggled to move the ball in the air and on the ground until late in the game.

Fells caught two passes, touchdowns of 20 and 4 yards for the Lions, who fell to 3-2 on the season. The #Detroit Lions hosted the #Carolina Panthers at Ford Field with quite a game playing out.

"Taking some time off", Mike Persinger, the executive sports editor of The Charlotte Observer, wrote in an email. If he can stay sharp, the Panthers' offense could be unsafe as he has a number of weapons at his disposal - including rookie all-purpose back Christian McCaffrey, who has caught 22 passes for 206 yards.

Rodrigue asked Cam Newton about wide receiver Devin Funchess' route running on Wednesday and Carolina's quarterback laughed and said, "It's amusing to hear a female talk about routes". Detroit will live and die by the play of Matt Stafford and as the league's highest paid player it makes sense as such as he is an extraordinary talent and has led the Lions to a handful of heart stopping, cone from behind victories over the years. And both defensive end Ziggy Ansah and defensive tackle Haloti Ngata recorded a sack in the contest.

Panthers: Cornerback Daryl Worley had an ankle injury.
