Lynch may someday be able to use some of Carroll's wisdom in reconstructing the 49ers. "I mean, really, when you think about his career, what he has done, he is going to come after it. I feel like he's had his best day today", Shanahan said on Friday.
Griffin has already garnered praise from his teammates, especially Richard Sherman who's incredible by his poise for such a young age.
Carroll said the same for the whole team, noting that while the defense kept the Seahawks in the game it also couldn't stop Green Bay from running off the last 6:17 after Seattle closed to 17-9, or stop the Packers from converting 9 of 16 third downs.
Take away Wilson's 40 yards rushing on two scrambles and a 30-yard run from rookie Chris Carson, and the Seahawks rushed for just 20 yards on 15 carries. But, in the Week 1 loss to the Carolina Panthers, the team was outcoached, outmatched and, especially on offense, outplayed. Daniels had Seattle guards Mark Glowinski, Luke Joeckel, and center Justin Britt on the ground most of the day and recorded one and a half sacks, which disrupted any rhythm Seattle could gain on offense.
The Seahawks entered the season with worries about their offensive line, and those worries proved to be on point.
San Francisco will hope that switch pays dividends, but look for Shanahan to try to get the ball out of Hoyer's hands quickly to try to negate the impact of a fearsome Seattle pass rush. Now he looks to rebound in one of the game's loudest venues and against one of its stingiest defenses. Kaepernick was never exactly great against the Seahawks.
"The bigger task is their defense".
WHO'S FIRST?: Who will be Seattle's primary ball carrier? If Rawls is healthy he should get the bulk of the carries.
LINE SHIFT: There's no doubt Seattle's offensive line must play better. Packers pass rushers were in the Seattle backfield all game long, causing havoc on Russell Wilson and stifling the running game.
Seahawks offensive tackles Rees Odhiambo and German Ifedi had an bad time last week in Green Bay. San Francisco failed to get a sack last week against Carolina and gave up 116 yards rushing. His expected return could inject life into the running game, but offensive line coach Tom Cable said he's looking for something else.
HOME COOKIN': Seattle has won the past six meetings against the 49ers in Seattle.
General manager John Lynch said one of the keys to Sunday's game is making sure the 49ers' energy and ferocity are cranked to the highest level possible.
