Isaiah Thomas Opens Up About Trade In Goodbye Letter To Boston

07 September 2017

The 5-foot-9 point guard reiterated his love for Boston and how much he will miss the fans there, going so far as to say he's still hurt by the trade, but can't wait to get on the floor with four-time league MVP James.

While the reactions of his children were said to be most important to him, the piece also gives us some details about how Thomas found out about the trade.

Thomas, an All-NBA selection, was the NBA's third-leading scorer a year ago with 28.9 points per game. "And I won't lie - it still hurts", Thomas wrote. If you've watched any Celtics games previous year, then you know how many times I would have to go through double and even triple teams, just to get my shot off.

"And so when I say this hurts, man - just know that it isn't because of anything anyone else did".

Brady began the conversation by texting "What's up, IT, I heard about the news". I'd bet the house that he'll receive an impassioned standing ovation when he returns to the Boston Garden on January 3. "You get to play with LeBron James!'".

Then the "Kyrie Irving drama" surfaced when Kyrie asked the Cavs front office to trade him to another team. "'I just traded you.' Simple as that". While that remains a question, the Cavs having rights to that pick will only mean good things going forward, both during the season and next offseason.

"It was one of the most hard conversations I ever had", Ainge told CSN's Kyle Draper and Brian Scalabrine following last week's introductory press conference for Irving and Gordon Hayward.

During his earlier days with the Thunder, Kendrick Perkins came up with the term "cupcake" to poke fun at some of their teammates who lack toughness inside the court. The elite offense, the 30-some national TV games, the becoming a place where free agents want to come and play - I feel like I helped build that.

If that doesn't get you excited for NBA basketball right there, I don't think you can even call yourself a basketball fan at all.

But his former coach Brad Stevens, on a sit-down interview via The Celtics on CSN Twitter page, had nothing but high praise for the playmaker, saying that Thomas "will always have an impact on Boston".

Reports from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski stating that "After Cleveland's physical examination of Isaiah Thomas' injured hip raised concern about the timeline for his return this season" and "Without revisions to the original trade agreement, the Cavaliers could threaten to veto the trade" has left the status of the trade uncertain.
