Slain cop's daughter thanks Gambhir for promising to support her education

Zohra, who emerged as the anguished face of terror in Jammu and Kashmir after her father was killed by militants last month, today thanked the cricketer for his support. "I want to become a doctor and fulfil the dream of my papa", she told reporters.

The Jammu and Kashmir police also thanked Gambhir for his noble gesture. She was quoted by ANI as saying, "Thank you Gautam Sir, me and my family are very happy with your gesture, I want to become a doctor".

Abdul Rasheed, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police, lost his life while fighting against terrorists in Anantnag of Jammu & Kashmir.

The images of Zohra crying her heart out as police personnel bid adieu to her slain father yesterday have been widely circulated on various social media platforms. Zohra, please don't let those tears fall as I doubt even Mother Earth can take d weight of your pain.

"Will support ur education 4 lifetime #daughterofIndia", Gambhir tweeted.

The cricketer posted two tweets and saluted Abdul as well.

ASI Abdul Rashid was shot on Aug 28 when militants fired upon him in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said.

Gambhir announced that he will support the lifetime education of eight-year-old Zohra, whose photographs while sobbing at her father's funeral broke hearts all over the country.

They further asked Zohra to be strong and said that "may almighty give us the strength to go ahead with our mission of rendering services for the betterment of the society".
