The key: Missouri's defense couldn't get a stop and sophomore kicker Tucker McCann missed an extra point (and booted a kickoff out of bounds) in a sloppy mess of a quarter.

Lock broke both the school's record for touchdowns and yards thrown in a single game. He would finish with seven touchdowns, breaking a school record. Missouri State showed early on that they were here to play and were still very much in the game early into the second half. Chase Daniel threw five touchdowns on four occasions, while Lock and Maty Mauk had each done it twice.

Missouri State's Peyton Huslig completed 24 of 35 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns.

On the day Mizzou honored its 2007 team during a halftime ceremony, Lock put up numbers in homage of those high-flying days in the Big 12 Conference, completing 21 of 34 passes for 521 yards and seven touchdowns, including a 65-yard catch and run to the end zone by Johnson on MU's first play from scrimmage. Damarea Crockett, who surpassed 1,000 rushing yards previous year as a true freshman, carried 18 times for 202 yards and two TDs.

ATHENS, Ga. - Freshman Jake Fromm led three first-half touchdown drives after starting quarterback Jacob Eason hurt his left knee, helping Georgia beat Appalachian State.

The Tigers' offense appears to be as good as it was cracked up to be coming into the season. The Bears averaged 6.6 yards per play. The Tigers wound up settling for Tucker McCann's 35-yard field goal.

Mizzou just got this TD taken away for excessive celebration and Damarea Crockett got penalized 15 yards.

"I think we took them a little lightly", senior safety Anthony Sherrils said. Hilton, a backup safety, will have to sit out the first half of next week's game against SC.

Missouri State: The Bears will visit FCS opponent North Dakota.

With the 2017 college football season set to kick off this weekend, the Week 1 Missouri Tigers preview will cover every aspect of Saturday's showdown with the Missouri State Bears.
